A study on the development and effectiveness of permanency planning program for people with mental illness

Abstract
Objective£ºThe purpose of this study was to recognize the necessity of permanency plan and to provide preliminary data for further performance by developing the permanency planning program for people with mental illness and evaluating the program`s effectiveness. Methods: To examine the effectiveness of the 8-session program, experimental group (N=19) was selected as a control group (N=17) to compare the outcome of hope and self-efficacy before and after the program used a quasi-experimental design. In addition, to analyze the factors that can predict the program effectiveness, we reviewed program participation experience of experimental group. Results: The results showed permanency planning program increased hope of experimental group significantly, but self-efficacy was not changed through this program. Participants reported that these program was helpful for them to be hope, setting future planning, overcoming adversity, developing positive self-image and self-reliance. These tries to draw some significant practitional discussions and implications for applying community mental health services and case management.
